2023 - Meeting with the then Premier Palaszczuk

Securing Olympic and Paralympic Games benefits for SWQ through investigating new opportunities in tourism, supply chains and of course advocating that the region’s iconic Bilby be selected as the Brisbane Games mascot.

These activities continued throughout the year and the opportunity to promote the Bilby as Games Mascot was taken up with several Ministers and the Opposition Leader when SWQROC Mayors travelled to Brisbane in August.

Under Remote Area Board Funding by the Queensland State Government, SWQROC undertook a high-level SWOT Analysis to identify tourism and supply chain opportunities associated with the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Brisbane in 2032.
