2023 tourism and events season support and promotion
SWQROC facilitates opportunities for member councils to collaborate on whole of region opportunities and connect with regional and state tourism organisations, helping to attract more visitors, longer stays and return visitation.
Activities in 2023
To make sure South West Queensland (SWQ) was well positioned ahead of the 2023 tourism and events season, the SWQ Councils Tourism Team were out and about targeting our key markets caravanners, grey nomads and family holidaymakers including the Moreton Bay Expo and Outback Queensland Tourism Association’s Annual Muster and guide launch in Brisbane. These events combined were visited by an estimated 30,000 + attendees. These efforts were further supported by coordinated regional tourism promotion highlighting SWQ as Outback Queensland’s major event destination.
Visit SWQ information on southwestqueensland.com.au continues to be popular with the majority of the sites’ 1.5K annual visitors accessing travel itineraries and event information.
As SWQ’s tourism and events offering continues to grow, refresh and deliver new experiences like the Cunnamulla Hot Springs, the Outback Museum of Australia and the Cooper’s Country Lodge, we’ve got even more to showcase in 2024. Our united team has well and truly opened the door to more visitors adding SWQ to their itinerary, returning to explore more, staying longer and spending more in local our communities.
