Improving liveability through assets and services

As owners of significant infrastructure assets that impact the daily existence of every individual in every community – think transport, water supply, waste facilities, sporting facilities, child care and in some cases higher education to name but a few, councils in South West Queensland (SWQ) understand the importance of managing these assets well within very limited budgets.

During 2023, with funding support from the Queensland State Government, SWQ councils continued to focus on identifying and improving their asset management practices through the Advancing Asset Management Program and more specifically taking a strategic approach to progressing a region wide water and waste water strategy which will be instrumental to the economic development goals of the region.

Whilst the pilot stage of the Advancing Asset Management Program drew to a conclusion in November, the Water and Waste Water Strategy continues to be developed ready for review and finalisation in 2024.
